What is it?
This will be the 19th year
of the event. The name of the event just about says it all.
The Peach Festival is an annual celebration of the agricultural community on
Knotts Island. For two days the
community park is full of food and crafts vendors, entertainers, and
visitors. Thousands show up. Its practical function is that of a fund
raiser to support the community work done by the local Ruritan Club.

When is it held?
The
festival is always held on the last full weekend in July.
This year, in
2008, it will go on from July 26th to the 27th.
Saturday the festival kicks off with a parade at 9:30am and ends that
evening at 5:00 pm.
Sunday, the park opens up again at 10:00 and the festival is over that
evening at 5:00 pm.

Where is it held?
The Peach Festival is held on Knotts Island on
the grounds of the Ruritan Community Park on Brumley Road. There is a lot of room
for parking and people. Get some basic directions further down.

Who organizes this?
The festival is organized and run by the
volunteers of the Knotts Island
Ruritan Club. The club spends a better part of the year before
each festival working to bring it all together. All proceeds benefit
the club and the work they do for the community of Knotts Island.

How much will it cost?
Parking is free.
At the gate, there is a $5.00 admission fee (donation).
Children under 12 are admitted for free when accompanied by paying adults. This price will admit you to
the Wildlife Festival as well. There is food and drink available for sale from various vendors and crafters
and artists have their goods for sale. The money you spend is for a
great cause and your help is greatly appreciated.

How do I get there?
There are so many people coming from so many
places that all the possible directions can't be listed here. The best
place to start is at Princess Anne Road in Virginia Beach. Once you're on Princess Anne Road, follow it
south all the way to Knotts Island. When you get to the island, take a
right at the first fork by the "Welcome Sign". Bear left at the market
and follow the road past the vineyards and the churches. You'll come
to Brumley Road by an old gray building on your left. Keep going a
short distance more and you'll see the fire house. The field behind it
is where the parking is. Let the signs direct you to the parking attendants
who will help you find a spot and then direct you to the entrance gate.
Go here to
Map Quest for more
detailed directions. Just type in Knotts Island, NC as your
destination.
